Nobody realized it would be a great chance to show people all over the country what Hyderabad is all about. Luckily, the tourism department itself has realized that. Giving people a glimpse of what our city stood for on the pretext on what it stands for is a very good step by the culture keepers.
The Department Of Tourism is organizing an event called 'Visit Hyderabad' coinciding with the visit of people from across the country and overseas in lakhs for the famed fish medicine being administered every year for free during 'Mrigasira Karti' day. This year the day falls on the 8th of June.
'Visit Hyderabad' is being organized to showcase the Hyderabadi culture and the monuments of Hyderabad. The tourism department will post guides at all the major railway and bus stations and also at the airport, who can be identified easily as they carry a banner displaying 'Tourism At Your Service'.
As a part of this, all the heritage structures of the city like the Charminar, the Quli Qutub Shahi Tombs, the Golconda Fort, the Buddha Statue and the Hussain Sagar, and popular attrctions like the Necklace Road and the Lalitha Kala Thoranam will be illuminated.
On the night of the 7th, cultural programs and films on tourism will be screened at the exhibition grounds followed by a Ghazal and Qawwali festival from the 8th to the 10th.
Several retail outlets have agreed to extend a discount to the visitors of upto 20 percent on various items upon the tourism department's request.
