You can either have tons of it, or toil for years to get an ounce of it. Recognition for a Hrithik Roshan came even before the arc lights intrigued him, but for a vernacular poet, selling the concept itself could be next to impossible. But there is niche for all, and that niche has to take it upon itself to acknowledge the artist's effort. So, we had an organization, Trishul, giving away awards and titles to a host of personalities working in the fields of dance, music, poetry, social work etc.
The main recipient of the "Trishula Millennium Visista Award", a shield and a certificate, was Dr Nataraja Rama Krishna, who worked selflessly all his life to revive the yesteryear temple dancing traditions in Andhra, and also the martial dances of the Kakatiyan period. His present venture to revive the tradition of music and dance from the Qutub Shahi period, especially that of the court dancers and singers like Premavati and Taramati, needs much support from the concerned cultural institutions.
The other personalities who received honors for their excellence in different fields were Shobha Raj, K V Krishna Kumar, Jithendra, Umar Farooq and Venu Madhav. The evening also witnessed folk dance performances staged by Miracle Organization and also a musical presentation, 'Sangeeta Vibhavari', by Ananta group.
