Techeon 2008 - A National Level Technical Fest Of CBIT: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR TECHEON 2008 - A...

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, CBIT, is presenting Techeon '08, a national-level technical festival, on the 12th & 13th of March, at the college's campus in Gandipet. This event is a blend of the technical and managerial aspects, and the students who participate in this event get a chance to explore their skills in various IT domains, and can interact with IT professionals who represent top MNCs.

The 2-day festival will feature several formal and informal events as under:

Formals

Ashtavadhanam
This is a purely technical event exploring the knowledge of a student in 8 different streams. Here the student has to undergo the interview by 8 different experts, preceded by an open book test. The participant should have sufficient knowledge in the streams - C, C++, Java, Operating Systems, DBMS, Software Engineering, Web programming and Current Affairs.

Dot 'C'
This event tests the knowledge of a participant in C and C++ concepts. Here, the participant can be asked to generate or debug code.

Office Guru
Participants who have a challenging desire to explore their hidden talents on the most used utility package (GUI), Microsoft Office, get a chance to prove their mettle.

Project Presentation
Participants have to demonstrate their project and need to justify its scope in real time environment. The projects will be judged by a panel of experts.

Paper Presentation
This event gives an opportunity to students to present papers related to Computer Science. The participants have to prepare a presentation as per IEEE standards and should present it before a technical team consisting of various domain experts. The most innovative paper will be rewarded. Papers are invited in the areas of:

Mobile Computing
Wi-Fi Technologies
Virtualization
Nano Technology
Network Security
Data Warehousing and Mining

Spysys
This is an On'LAN' treasure hunt. The virtual treasure (file or document) will be kept on the LAN, and the participants have to trace it using the given clues.

Team Building
A managerial event in which a team of 2 members have to come up with an innovative solution for the given problem.

Young Turks
This event is a combination of technical and managerial aspects. The participants should have a grip on various software concepts, and must be able to think about how to build up software for the systems in an organization.

No Vacancy
This is a mock recruitment process to make the students familiar with the recruitment process. It consists of three rounds: Written Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Informals

Pulse 60
This event will have lots of funny games which last a minute (Ek Minute).

Sudoku
This event will puzzle your brain, and needs analytical and reasoning skills.

Jeu de LAN
Games freak? This is the right place to show your aptitude and prove you are distinctly ahead of others. There is loads of entertainment, and plenty of surprising gifts too.

A2Z
In this event, each participant shows his/her talent in any of the following activities - singing, dancing, mimicry, drawings, jokes, magic, poetry and acting. The best performance is rewarded by gifts in each category.

Ziuq
The quiz is a brain-storming exercise for the participants. It covers technology, sports, literature, business, history and lots more. In this competition, there are three rounds - prelims, a direct questionaire, a rapid fire session, and the finals.

Flash
The memory and IQ levels of the participant will be tested in this event.
