The Information Technology department of the Vasavi College of Engineering is organising Reconnoitre 2008, a technical festival, on 12th & 13th March, at the Vasavi campus in Ibrahimbagh, Gandipet Road. The 2-day technical festival will serve as a foundation to students to share and exhibit their talent. There's a total prize money of Rs. 60,000 to be won, and the details of various events are:

Paper Presentation
A platform to display your presentation skills on various technologies in fields of engineering. The first prize is Rs. 5,000 and the second prize is Rs. 3,000. The topics for presentation are:

VLSI and Signal Processing
Computational Intelligence and Learning
Data Minning/Business Intelligence
Image Processing
Artificial Intelligence
Mobile Communication
Next Gen Data Centers
Network Security
Multi-Core Architectures

Poster Presentation
It's all about implementing your basic idea about the topic on a poster. It has to be precise and simple, and should be comprehensible for a layman. The topics are same as for paper presentation.

Project Presentation
Develop real time hardware and software projects, and put them on display. Wow the organisers with your work and walk away with prizes. An opportunity for students to expose their self-designed and application-oriented projects. The first prize is Rs. 5,000, and the second prize is Rs. 3,000.

IMS Business Event
A special event organized by IMS to test technical, analytical and soft skills. This is done in 3 rounds - a written test, a JAM session and a group discussion.

The first prize is Rs. 2,500 along with 50% concession for CAT coaching in IMS, the second prize is Rs. 1,500 along with 35% concession for CAT coaching in IMS, and the third prize is Rs. 1,000 along with 25% concession for CAT coaching in IMS.

C Debugging Contest
If you have an eye for those all headache-generating, elusive, frustrating bugs, this is your hunting ground. A person with patience and aptitude for C will find this one alluring.

Technical Crossword
This technical crossword requires lots of knowledge in IT as well as current affairs. Clues will be provided.

General Quiz
Here the participants will face mind-boggling questions from various technical fields. The prelims will be a written contest, and will be followed by a final round of oral quizing.
