Be tribal buy tribal may not sound quite as cool as be Indian buy Indian, but buying tribal has its advantages, and here's a great way to find that out.
The Center for Bharatiya Marketing Development (CBMD), a unit of the Swadeshi Jagaran Foundation, is organizing a 'Swadeshi Mela' for 6 days, aimed at encouraging small-scale entrepreneurs in the context of globalization and increased competition. The CBMD has been conducting similar melas across the country for four years. In Andhra Pradesh, it had organized melas at Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Warangal last year.
Besides reputed firms, tribals from various districts of our state and Madhya Pradesh will exhibit their products here. About 250 stalls will be put up, of which 50 will be earmarked specially for tribals. The mela will exhibit products ranging from information technology related, electronic, electrical, textile and automobile to agricultural, khadi and tribal, and other home needs, too. A separate pavilion will be set up for the IT companies, and seminars will be held involving experts in the field.
Some of the special attractions in the mela will be a diesel engine run on Honge oil, the first Indian-made electric car and an indigenous innovation called Symputer.
RSS Chief Sudarshan will inaugurate the mela, and other dignitaries like Yanamala Ramakrishnudu (the state finance minister), Bachi Singh Rawat (Union Minister of State for Science and Technology), and T Hanuman Choudary (the state's IT adviser) will be special guests. There will also be cultural programs during the evenings on all the days.
