Andre Makine and Ferrante Ferranti talk about the relationship between image and writing. The theme of this discussion is pictures in words and words in pictures. Russian born Andre Makine drew high praise from critics around the globe for his first novel, Dreams of My Russian Summers, an international bestseller that has been translated into over 25 languages. It was also awarded two of France's highest literary honours, the Prix Medicis and Prix Goncourt. Ferrante Ferranti, an Italian arhitect and photographer born in 1960, is the author of shades and lights. He exhibited his work in France, Italy, Romania, Portugal, Spain, Germany, and Czechoslovakia.
