With a Grammy-award winner for a younger brother and Pandit Ravi Shankar for a guru, there's little that could go wrong with your expectations from this concert; or with them being fulfilled.

The 38th Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh is being organized by the Department of Culture, together with Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj. It is a 3-day music festival, from 29th November to 1st December, and is being conducted at the Chowmahalla Palace. Performers during the festival include Bharatanatyam dancer Shirisha Shashank, sitarist Manju Mehta, flautist Master S Akash, tabla player Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, Saxophonist Kadiri Gopalnath, and vocalists Pt. Sanjeev Anhayankar, Ankita Joshi and Madhup Mudgal.

On the inaugural day, Manju Mehta will perform on the Hindustani sitar. Manju belongs to Jaipur, and had her initial training in sitar from her elder brother Pt. Shashimohan Bhatt. Her younger brother is the world-renowned Mohan Veena player Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. She learned classical music under Damodarlal Kabra and Pandit Ravi Shankar.

Manju Mehta is a 'Grade A' artiste on All India Radio. She is the founder of the Saptak Festival Of Music held every year in Ahmedabad.

She has performed in various places in India and abroad. She has over 30 years of experience as a teacher in Jodhpur University, and in "Darpana" of Ahmedabad. She currently teaches at the Saptak School of Music in Ahmedabad, in which she is also a trustee. She did her Masters of Music, in which she cleared first class.

About The Festival

In memory of his late father Pandit Motiram and his brother Pandit Maniram, Pandit Jasraj, in association with the Department of Culture, organizes an annual music festival in Hyderabad. It was being held at the Nizam College grounds, which was where his father and his brother taught music to several students. However, since 2009, the venue has been shifted to the Chowmahalla Palace. Started in 1972, this festival is on for the 38th year.

Entry to the samaroh is free. Please contact the Department of Culture at 2324-2482 for further details.
