In the absence of qui vive animal activists and Menaka Gandhi, it was a cinch for the Nizams to make feathered delicacies find way to their dining table. A restaurant in town now works up the royal ornithological spread for you, albeit, after some serious pecking at your pockets.
The Hyderabad Marriott is holding a food festival called "Nizams And Their Delectable Birds" at their restaurant Bidri from 19th November to 30th November, from 6:30pm to 11:30pm.
The 4 plumed ingredients in the festival are chicken (murgh), quails (bater), guinea fowls (titar) and ducks (batakh). An exclusive menu has been prepared for the festival, consisting of 4 starters and 6 main course accompaniments. The starters include Murgh Sikanza Kebab (chicken breast with mint chutney), Tandoori Bater (farm-raised quails marinated with yoghurt and spices), Bhune Masaley Ka Titar (guinea fowl marinated with ground spices in tandoor) and Batakh Ke Tikke (duck morsels seasoned with degi mirch).
The sumptuous main course items range from Desi Murgh Ka Chicken (country-style chicken), Murgh Badami Korma (chicken leg simmered in almond paste and yoghurt), and Murgh Keema Methi (chicken preparation with tomato and fenugreek) to Siya Mirch Ka Bater (quail peppered with chilli, coriander and garlic), Saagwala Bada Titar (guinea fowl flavoured with bun-garlic and spinach) and Tala Hua Batakh (duck morsels fried with onion and spices).
Chef Aziz's signature dessert draws a sweet finale to the lavish food affair.
The starters come at Rs. 375 each, the main course items at Rs. 425 each, and the dessert is priced at Rs. 195. Please contact 2752-2577 for further details.
