Teegala Krishna Reddy College of Engineering & Technology is organising its annual cultural festival Shiznay 2KX at the college campus in Meerpet. As part of the festival, popular singer Kailash Kher will be performing live on 19th March.
Kailash Kher is a popular Indian singer mainly into sufi music. He has recently risen to fame with a series of hits. His band Kailasa includes Mumbai musician-brothers Naresh & Paresh, who were earlier associated with Bombay Black.
Kher hit the limelight with the smashhit Allah Ke Bande, part of the soundtrack for the relatively obscure movie Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II. Kher provides a uniquely soulful, raw, high-pitched voice. He sang a number of songs in the Bollywood film Mangal Pandey: The Rising, in which he also had a cameo. His other Bollywood appearances include one in the movie Corporate, in the song O Sikander.
The songs Tauba Tauba and Teri Deewani from his album Kailasa, as well as Ya Rabba from Salaam E Ishq were huge hits. His latest songs are Fatak from Kaminey, Kaise Hai Yeh Udaasi from Karthik Calling Karthik, and Arziyan from Delhi 6. He has also sung for films down south. His Tollywood ventures include Arundhati and Aakasamantha.
Kher was born near Meerut. His father was a shoemaker and folk singer. Kailash Kher's is a virtual rags-to-riches story, as he rose from being a homeless resident of Andheri station (during his initial struggle to find a foothold in Mumbai) to being one of Bollywood's most acclaimed stars.
Entry tickets are priced at Rs. 500 and Rs. 350 per head. Please contact Lavakush at 99496-62330 or Jairam at 95810-46612 for further details.
