Just when you thought Uday Kiran had done it, here are 13 more contenders. Shilpam 2002 is an event that has 13 leading sculptors from different parts of the country coming together and giving new meaning to stone at Shilparamam.
In small shelters built of thatch, the sculptors are engrossed chiseling away a bit here and a bit there on the stones of various varieties, giving them new face and look, and then moving a few paces back to watch them intently, to produce something unique and brilliant. The shape and design on the stone is of their choice.
Sculptors like Nagji Patel (Baroda), Robin David (Bhopal), Praful Singh (Jamshedpur), Madanlal (Banaras), Rajesh Sagara (Ahmedabad), Rajendra Tiku (Jammu), Enas (Delhi), Adinarayana and Hariprasad (Visakhapatnam), Chandra Shekharachari and Y Vasu (Kurnool), Manohar (Hyderabad) and Hiroshi Miyauchi (Japan) are taking part in this 20-day workshop and their work will be ready by the 8th of March.
