Ever heard the songs Wooly Bully and Sugar Sugar? Well, both these were hits during the 1960s. These and many more will be presented live every Wednesday, at the Underdeck, the pub of Taj Banjara. A celebrity musician will be present every week to spin these tracks, along with the ever-popular DJ Blackjack.
This week, it's the turn of Valentine Shipley. Val was born into a family with a rich musical heritage and got initiated into music at a tender age of 4. The nephew of the famous Van Shipley, popularly known as "man with the golden guitar and magical gypsy violin", Val won a scholarship to Cambridge to study music, communication and radio broadcasting, on the recommendation of Sir Cliff Richard.
While in London, he worked with the BBC and also got initiated into the Asian underground music scene. He has travelled all across Europe and played with various pop, rock, ethnic, folk and jazz outfits. An intrinsic part of The Citizenship Project for the past one year, Val imparts an energy and love that crosses all barriers as he makes the children laugh, sing and celebrate the sheer joy of being alive.
