When your wicked family exploits your wealth by convincing you that you're poor, the least you can do is to return the favour.
The Hyderabad Film Club, in association with the Mexican Embassy in New Delhi and the Federation of Film Societies of India, is organising a Mexican Film Festival, from 16th to 18th August, at Sarathi Studios.
A total of 5 films directed by Luis Bunuel will be screened during the 3-day film festival.
The Great Madcap (El Gran Calavera) is the inaugural film that will be screened at 6pm. The film casts Fernando Soler, Andres Soler, Luis Alcoriza, Rosario Granados, Maruja Grifell, Antonio Bravo, Ruben Rojo, Gustavo Rojo and Francisco Jambrina. The story is based on a comedy by Adolfo Torrado.
The rich and drunken widower Ramiro allows his children Virginia and Eduardo, his good-for-nothing brother Ladislao, and his sister-in-law Milagros, to exploit him. They convince him that he has already squandered his fortune. Desperate, his brother Greogorio decides to make them all believe that Ramiro is ruined and that the family has to work to survive.
