Presentation Of B N Sahithi Puraskaram: Events in Hyderabad

He's retired as an IAS officer, but Bapu Reddy's power doesn't seem to wane - now, he exerts it through sheer words.

Yuvakalavahini is conferring upon poet J Bapu Reddy, the annual B N Reddy Sahithi Puraskaram, on 21st June, at Ravindra Bharathi. On this occasion, Sharada Reddy and Amalapuram Kanna Rao will organise a musical nite of songs based on Bapu Reddy's poems.

Bapu Reddy is a retired IAS Officer of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, having served the state in many capacities as the collector of Medak district, Director of the Tobacco Board, APIDC Chairman and Commissioner of Industries. He has penned 40 books on poetry like Vaadiponi Vasanthalu, Vyavadhi Ledhu, Anantha Satyalu and Baapureddy Gadya Kaavyaalu. Many of his works have been translated to English and Hindi. His poems were also used in the lyrics of several light music and cine songs.

The chief guest for the evening is Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Suresh Reddy. Poet Mallamala and former chairman of Press Academy Kotturi Venkateshwara Rao are the other guests.
