Shrishti Art Gallery is organising a show of paintings by Prof Gouri Shanker, from 20th to 30th June. The artist is exhibiting 33 of his works at the exhibition. These paintings are landscapes in abstract form, depicting the arial view, the Google Earth way. Done on the media of oil on canvas and water color on paper, the paintings, with bright colors like red, blue and green, fight for the viewer's diversion and attention.
Born in 1936, Prof Gouri Shanker is an eminent artist of India, and recipient of more than 45 awards and honors. He has represented India in art exhibitions both in India and abroad. He took his Diploma in Drawing and Painting at Bombay and his Post Diploma in Portrait Painting in Hyderabad, and specialized in art from the M S University in Baroda.
After retiring as Professor from the College of Fine Arts in Hyderabad, he has been juggling as Visiting Professor at many universities across the country. He has held over 26 one-man exhibitions, participated in 10 group exhibitions, and is the subject of a monograph published by the Lalit Kala Academy.
