There's never harm in making some contact with God, as long as you are planning to return. Here's an evening with God - and his latest avatar, Suman.
Suprasiri Arts, in association with Ragajhari, is releasing two CDs, Shivapuri Keertanas and Devi Navaratri Keertanas, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, on 21st June. The devotional songs in Shivapuri Keertanas are sung by Kumari Sinduja, while the ones in Devi Navaratri Keertanas are sung by V Kanaka Durga. The music for both the keertanas is rendered by V Kanaka Durga.
On this occasion, a cine devotional musical nite is being organised, in which Nihal, Nithya Santoshini, V Kanaka Durga, Sudharani, Sindhuja, Sai Krishna and Sashi Karan are participating. The chief guest for the evening is Padmabhushan Dr C Narayana Reddy, and it will be presided over by N Venkateshwari, Advocate, High Court of AP. The other guests are cine actors Suman and Kavita; Dean of the School Of Fine Arts, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Prof Sudarshan Singh; Jupally Krishna Rao, MLA; Cine Raaga Visleshana Visharada V L N Chariar, singer and composer; Nihal, playback singer; and Mudigonda Senapathi, writer and poet.
Suprasiri Arts was started by Vinnakota Kanaka Durga in 1995, at Neredmet. The academy has about 50 students learning Carnatic, light and folk vocal, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and folk dances. Kanaka Durga is a B-High graded artiste of the All-India Radio. She has done her M A in music from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. She is a professional singer, and participates in various film, light and classical music concerts.
