How often is often enough to attend Ghantasala song concerts? For most people, that's a stupid question. Here's one more time they'll be grateful God created hearing.
Swara Bhava Lahari is organising a musical night of some rare old melodies, on 25th June at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. The orchestra will be provided by Srikanth and party.
Y R Sastry, Haripriya, Sai Charita, Vijayalakshmi and Deepthi will be singing songs of Ghantasala, Jikki, Susheela and Leela. The movies from which they will be choosing the songs are Pellikoothuru, Palleturu Pilla, Radha Bhairavi, Tingu Ranga, Vadhina Gari Gajulu, Pasupu Kumkuma, Santosham, Vadhina, Prapancham, Raja Guru and Veera Prasad.
Swara Bhava Lahari was started in December 2003 by Y R Sastry. He is an ardent lover of old film music, and so organises old musical nites every month at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. A self-taught singer, Sastry won the Ghantasala Subbaraman Award last year.
