The world no. 1 in chess, in case you missed it, is an Indian. And a lot more are trying to topple him. Meet some of them this weekend.
The Andhra Pradesh Chess Association is organising the A P State Under-25 Inter-District Chess Championship at the Anand Nagar Welfare Association Sports Academy, on 24th and 25th June. The tournament will be conducted in the Sicilian format on a league basis. Every player has to play all the other players in his category, and on the basis of these performances, winners will be announced by total points scored.
The registration fee for each participant is Rs. 200. The top two overall players of the tournament will represent the state for the Under-25 National Chess Championships to be held at Ahmedabad from 1st to 8th July. Prizes will also be given to the top two players in the age categories of Under-6, Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 years, separately for boys and girls.
