Aakriti Art Gallery of Kolkata, in association with the Kalakriti Art Gallery of Hyderabad, is organising a joint exhibition of sculpture from 29th November to 9th December. Titled Next Generation, this show has 10 sculptors - namely Akhil Chandra Das, Bhabotosh Sutar, Chandan Bhandary, Chandan Das, Nantu Behari Das, Pallab Das, Pradip Mondal, Sanjay Das, Subrata Biswas and Tapas Biswas, all from Kolkata - exhibiting 20 latest works.
Akhil Chandra is a postgraduate in sculpture from the M S University of Baroda. Bhabotosh graduated from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata in painting (Western style), but concentrated on sculpting. Chandan did his MFA in Sculpture from the I K S University, Chhattisgarh. Nantu has done an MVA in Sculpture from the Rabindra Bharathi University, Kolkata. Pallab is a student from Kala Bhavana.
Pradip has done an MVA in sculpture from the Govt. College of Art & Craft while Sanjoy completed MVA in sculpture from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. Subrata, more popularly called Pakhi, is a postgraduate in sculpture from the Rabindra Bharathi University, Kolkata. A postgraduate in sculpture from the Benaras Hindu University, Tapas has been awarded the Young Emerging Artist in Sculpture. Chandan holds a Master's Degree in Visual Arts, Sculpture, from M S University of Baroda.
All these artists have participated together in Gen Next I and Gen Next II shows at the Aakriti Art Gallery, and also in various exhibitions at Mumbai and Delhi. They are exhibiting in Hyderabad for the first time.
