Acting is a masochistic form of exhibitionism, said Sir Olivier Lawrence. He'd be surprised how many masochists there are in the world - and how young they start. There's a whole bunch of them that's going to be there at this Festival of Theater being organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
The National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama is presenting this weeklong festival of traditional and contemporary theater in Hyderabad. The event focuses on young practitioners of theater from different parts of the country, and is part of a series of festivals, workshops and interactions being organized in different cities of the country this year.
Natyotsav will bring to theater lovers in town, contemporary plays in Marathi, Punjabi, Assamese and Hindi by some of the nation's talented young directors. And among the traditional forms of theater, Kutiyattam of Kerala, Tamasha of Maharashtra and Nautanki of Uttar Pradesh will be featured. This is the complete list:
