There's a lot of old time Telugu film music happening these days, but have you heard it from the originals themselves? Jikki, Jamuna Ravi, P Leela and R Balasaraswati have all completed 50 years in Telugu Film music, and are being felicitated on this occasion by the Saluri Rajeswara Rao Music And Dance Academy. And yes, they are all singing some of their songs, from movies like Missamma and Pelli Kanuka, on this occasion.
The evening will also have a cassette compiled by Murali of the Academy titled "Aarathi Saibaba" released. These are songs praying Saibaba, and have been translated from Marathi into Telugu.
The Saluri Rajeswara Rao Music And Dance Academy conducts functions every 3 months. It plans to start a music school pretty soon to train artistes aspiring to get into the cine field.
