Dolu and Nadaswaram set the stage for celebrations and mournings. Tonight's honouring this production committee.
The Department Of Culture is organizing C M Muniramaiah Utsavalu today at 6pm. This program is in the memory of a great dolu master and former Asthana Dolu Vidwan of Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams, Late C M Muniramaiah.
C M Muniramaiah has popularized the instrument of dolu in the whole of South India. More than 80% of the present dolu and nadaswaram vidwans are his disciples. He was conferred special award in 1982 by the A P Sangeetha Nataka Academy. He was well versed in playing nadaswaram also. He was awarded titles like Dolu Vidyasagara, Vaadyadureena, Vidyacharya, Kailasa Sandeeswara, Thapul Sunnarivunnan Mani, Doluvaadya Samraat, Laya Vaadyalahari etc., by many well reputed cultural organizations and art lovers.
A book written by Late C M Muniramaiah will be formally released on the occasion. Famous dolu artists like Tarigopula Narayana Rao, Vaadala Ramakrishnaiah, Aathmakuru Narayana, Sri Midturu Ramakrishnaiah and Sri Midturu Sriramulu will be presenting the Panchaka Dolu Laya Vinyasam in chapu talam.
Eminent artists of dolu and nadaswaram Tirupathi C M Raja Gopal, Kanaparthi Janab Shaik Masthan Saheb, Gopalpet Ramaswamy and Devarakadra Lakshmaiah will be honoured on this occasion. This utsav is being conducted to promote, preserve and propagate the art form of dolu and nadaswaram which is gradually losing its lustre because of the westernization of musical instruments. Many dolu and Nadaswaram vidwans from all over the state are expected to attend this function.
