One of the most famous Indian circus troupes, The Moonlight Circus, is all set to entertain the entertainment hungry city folks from 20th April till 25th May, at the Exhibition Grounds. More than 30 feats - animal shows, dare devil stunts and comedy skits - will be performed during the 150-minute show.
For the children, there are feats by elephants, horses, dogs and parrots, while plate and fire juggling, tight rope walkers, cycling on a wire, a daring act of three men criss-crossing a cage-like globe, and acrobatic exercises of young children are bound to take everyone's breath away. In between, the clowns will be providing the laughter dose. All these will be performed by the 200-odd highly trained artistes of the circus.
Moonlight Circus is a 30-year-old circus from the state of Assam that has cornered lots of fame in the country for its high standards of performance and presentation. Post the 1998 ban on use of wild animals like lions, tigers and bears, the circus has introduced new and no-risk feats involving elephants, horses and parakeets. Due to high costs of maintenance (almost Rs. 40,000 a day), the circus keeps running with year round shows and country tours.
Despite a drop in patronage, the circus still remains vibrant, and continues to allure elders and children alike. There will be three shows per day - 1pm, 4pm & 7pm - and the duration of each show is, like we said, of 150 minutes. Tickets for entry are prices reasonably at Rs. 30, Rs. 50, Rs. 100 & Rs. 150 per show. Please contact the Exhibition Society at 2460-3458 for further details.
