US-based freelance photographer Anil C S Rao is organising an exhibition of digital Photoshop images at Gallery Space, from 6th to 13th February. The exhibition is titled Maya, and has about 30 figurative photographs on display.
Anil's photo shots have been featured in the issues of Indian Lifestyle magazine Debonair from 2005 to 2007, when he was mostly working with model-actress Danielle Faurot who he had originally hired to help market a dress line titled "Emma's Dresses".
The work for Debonair magazine formed the source of raw images for this current exhibit titled Digital Karma. Images and models from the Debonair shoots were composited in Adobe Photoshop, Poser 7 and Corel Painter, to produce the works on display for this show.
Born in Hyderabad and brought up in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, Anil C S Rao is a graduate of the Boy's Latin School of Maryland and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He has lived and worked in New York, Los Angeles and Washington DC. He currently lives in Bethesda, Maryland, and is a freelance designer and photographer. Vizag Blue and Midnite Biriyani were graphic novels by him, published by Frog Books (Mumbai).
He and wife Padmaja are both freelance designers and distance students at the San Francisco Institute Of Architecture where they are pursuing their M Arch degrees. They both produced a graphic novel anthology titled Desi World (stories based in Hyderabad), and are completing a mythological comic book Srinivasa Kalyanam - the tale of Lord Balaji's courting of Padmavati, retold using CG generated models.
