A popular face for the city folks, Swathy Somnath, the dancer who performed the controversial ballet "Kamasutra" in March 2003, is performing a Kuchipudi dance ballet today. A disciple of Sumathy Kaushal, Swathy is currently working as the Principal of the Vasavi College of Music and Dance. She also owns the dance institution Nritya Bharathi.
Vamsi Arts, a movie enterprise of the city, recently felicitated her. Her passion in life is dance, accompanied with her only other passion, teaching it. She has to her honor several choreography credits for dance ballets in the Kuchipudi style.
