REVIEW FOR JANMASHTAMI CELEBRATIONS

Lord Krishna's era is long gone, but his tomfoolery still inspires juveniles to don new colors. Apart from the habitual fancy dress (for kids), and a gooey 'butter-hand' competition, there's also the electrifying "Utla Panduga", which highlights this year's Janmashtami celebrations at Shilparamam.

The prize events, however, are the Kuchipudi dance ballet 'Gopalam Charitham' by Abhinetri Arts Academy, Secunderabad, and the 'Pujaphalam' dance ballet by Annamacharya Vignana Peetam, Cuddapah. Okay, all this might be sounding a contrast to contemporary times, but even discos demand outrageous costumes and riveting dance moves.

Be there if you're the pious-type. Also be there if you're looking for some fun 'n' frolic, pre-historic style.
