Hyderabad District Junior Athletics Championships: Events in Hyderabad

For those who are wondering what happens at LBS these days, plenty. Today, for instance, you get to see some of Hyderabad's fastest, highest, strongest.

The Hyderabad District Athletics Association is organising the District Junior Athletics Championships, at the Lal Bahadur Stadium, on 10th May. Competitions will be held in various disciplines in the age groups of Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20, for boys and girls.

In the Under-20 category for boys and girls, competitions will be conducted in the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres running races, the 100 metres and 110 metres hurdles, in high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw, decathlon and heptathlon, and the 10k walk.

In the Under-18 category for boys and girls, there are 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, 1,500 metres and 2,000 metres running races, 110 metres hurdles, high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, shotput, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw and heptathlon, and the 10k walk, while the Under-16 boys and girls will compete in high jump, long jump and pentathlon. The Under-14 category will compete only for the triathlon title.

The winners in these championships will represent Hyderabad district for the State Junior Athletics Championships which will be held on 19th and 20th May at Guntur. Registrations will be done on the spot. Interested participants should reach the venue with their proof of age before 8am.
