Tonite, catch the mundane Radio playing the therapist to many lonely souls.
The Documentary circle of the Hyderabad Film Club is screening three documentary short films of the director Vipun Vijay. Vipun comes all the way from Kerala. He will be introducing the film before it's screened. He will also be introducing his production team. At the end of the film there would be a discussion on the movie where he will answer the audience's questions.
Vipun Vijay studied filmmaking at the Satyajit Ray Film And Television Institute Of India (SRFTI), Kolkata. In 2003, he received the British Council scholarship for research for a film, at the British Film Institute, London. His films have widely been shown in festivals at Rotterdam, Karlovyvary, Oberhausen, Montreal, Karachi, Tehran and Chicago.
Hawamahal is a short film about the long forgotten instrument radio. Radio is shown as a liberating instrument. An extended organ which moves with you. In this movie the director shows the role of a radio in the life of a simple boy, a lonely housewife who fills her husband's absence with the radio, a Disc Jockey, a Radio Jockey (RJ), a girl in a call center, and numerous other actors going about their daily life.
