The Rock Street Journal (RSJ), in association with Seagram's Fuel, is presenting the Great Indian Rock Festival in 7 of India's most prominent cities, namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Shillong, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Hyderabad's leg is being performed at 2 venues - Soul Club on 13th November, and Bottles & Chimney on 14th November.
Half Step Down is performing at the Soul Club on the 1st day. Half Step Down is a blues-rock band with influences ranging from Cream, Hendrix, Allman Brothers, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin and Dave Matthews. The band's name is derived from the fact that they tune their guitars on D#, which is half step down from standard tuning pitch. Their songs are about everyday experiences, ranging from what they feel about maintaining peace, to how tough it is to write a good song. Currently, they are in the process of recording their debut album.
The members of the band are Dhaval Mudgal with the vocals, Anirudh Nair on the bass guitar, Jishnu on the lead guitar, Srijan Mahajan on the drums, Rohan Solomon on the rhythm guitar and backing vocals, and Shiv Lumba on the piano/organ.
The Great Indian Rock Festival aims to cement its place as the biggest rock festival in India. The talent search that the festival generates encompasses the entire nation, and entries have poured in from all over the country. It is the largest platform for bands in India to express themselves and also get a chance to share the stage with prominent international bands. This year, international bands, including Satyricon, Sahg and Freak Kitchen, will perform alongside 12 Indian bands. 1 lucky band will be selected to play at a major festival abroad.
