GVR Pancharatna Mahila Puraskar: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR GVR PANCHARATNA MAHILA PURASKAR

The GVR Cultural Foundation is giving away the annual Pancharatna Mahila Puraskarams, on 8th February, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. The awards are given every year to five women in their respective fields of activity. This year, the recipients of the award are:

Dr. K V Krishna Kumari - Medicine
Kalaratna Deepika Reddy - Dance
M Ramalakshmi - Media
Bangalore Padma - Cine Acting
Mallika (Chennai) - Television

The chief guest for the evening is V S Ramadevi, novelist and ex-Governor of Karnataka. The other distinguished guests are Kalavachaspati Dr. Ramu, theatre artiste, producer and director; P Vijay Babu, Editor, Andhra Prabha; P K Mallikarjuna Rao, T V artiste; Dr. B V K Raju, Vice-Director, Neo Educational Organisation; Delhi Rajeshwari, cine artiste; and V Sailaja, social worker.

The GVR Cultural Foundation was established 2 years ago by G Venkat Reddy, also the founder of Aradhana. Venkat Reddy has lent immense service to social causes, and was recently felicitated by a group of twin cities cultural organisations for completing 50 years of service. The foundation sponsors tbe education of poor students and gives scholarships, besides giving awards and conducting felicitations and cultural programs.
