The Ghantasala Government College Of Music is organising Ghantasala Swara Jayantotsavam, a music festival of Ghantasala melodies by T Sharath Chandra, on 2nd October, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. Sharath Chandra, a die-hard fan of late Ghantasala, will sing some evergreen solos and duets of the legendary singer, along with some amateur singers.
The festival which started on 13th January of this year, travelled all over the state till 20th May, with sub-junior, junior and senior singers participating, and a selected 101 singers from the festival will be participating in the closing ceremony on 2nd October here, on 3rd October at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and on 4th October at Ravindra Bharathi.
Most Ghantasala music fans need little goading to be Sharath Chandra's fans. His is a name synonymous with Ghantasala, and he has performed at many places in India and the world. Titles like Gyana Gandharva, Swara Hamsa, Gana Srestha and Gana Kalaprapurna, gold medals and the Adi Narayana Rao Award heaped on him explain his caliber.
