From Here To Here - A Film On Cultural Transfer Between India & Germany: Events in Hyderabad

Directors Madhusree & Philip play a game of peekaboo with history and now.

Goethe Zenthrum is presenting the screening of the film, From Here To Here, as a part of its 2nd anniversary celebration programs.

From Here To Here is made by 'Import Export - Cultural Transfer Between India And Germany, Austria', which is a trans-disciplinary research and culture project by Werkleitz Gesellschaf (Halle/Saale), House of World Cultures (Berlin), Majlis (Mumbai) and DeEgo (Vienna).

From Here To Here is a 45 min movie, directed by Madhusree Dutta and Philip Scheffner. Madhusree Dutta, executive director of Majlis, a centre for multi-cultural initiative in India, has been making non-fiction films since 1993. Majlis is involved in campaigning for cultural literacy, producing films and multi-disciplinary art works, and maintaining a current affairs video archive.

Philip Scheffner is a filmmaker, curator and sound and video artist, based in Berlin.

From Here To Here has the two directors telling the story from their own points of view, bringing in a multi-perspective element. The movie seeks to see the historical, political and identity-making conditions from the eyes of two different cultures.

Director Madhusree Dutta will introduce the film and lead the discussion thereafter.
