For all the people who thought that material comes cheap, it's the blasted craftsmanship that bloats the prices, the Rs. 2,85,000 entry barrier will prove an unwelcome eye-opener - both craftsmanship and material bloat the prices. For, the lady that stands at the entrance in these exhibitions is for sale herself, too, and made of bronze, she costs no less than that.
Poompuhar is the common name for the Tamilnadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, the organizer of this exhibition. It has 20 sales outlets all across the country, and the Chennai branch is organizing this one, in which artisans from across the country will display their wares. Poompuhar has manufactured all the brass and bronze statues displayed here.
