The Kalahita Art Foundation is organising an exhibition of paintings by Masuram Ravikanth, from 16th to 30th November. A collection of more than 50 works is on display.
The series has been titled Transversing - Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, and in it, the artist tries to explain a changing sequence of events and occurrences with the help of a conventional electric filament bulb. He has placed the chosen artifacts and characters from history inside the bulb on its filament, with a small wing attached to it. Some of his creations are based on the Ramayana and the Chitra Kathas.
Masuram Ravikanth was born in 1980, in Jangaon, Andhra Pradesh. He has done his BFA in painting from M M K Visual Arts, Gulbarga University, in 2007, and thereafter finished his MFA in painting from the Central University of Hyderabad.
Masuram exhibited his works at many group shows - in Kala Bhavan, Gulbarga, and in Lakshana Art Gallery, State Art Gallery, Daira Art Gallery, Hyderabad Art Society, Shilparamam, Kalahita Art Foundation and Hasta Art Gallery in Hyderabad. He also held solo exhibitions at the Daira Art Gallery and the Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad.
He was awarded the National Scholarship by the Ministry of HRD, and also by the Lalita Kala Academy, Bangalore, in addition to 21 various other state and national awards and prizes, from Lalita Kala Parishad, Visakhapatnam, in 1997; Nehru Yuva Kendra, Warangal, in 1999; Kala Mahotsav, Gulbarga, in 2000; Hyderabad Art Society, Hyderabad, in 2001; and Tasmiya Art House, Gulbarga, in 2002.
