Names like Raza, Thota Vaikuntam and Manu Parekh may be enough to draw you to this exhibition. If they don't, you're probably M F Hussain.
A group of 5 experienced artists is exhibiting their limited edition of serigraphs, from 25th to 30th September, at the Kalakriti Art Gallery. The participating artists are S H Raza, T Vaikuntam, K G Subramanyan, Jyoti Bhatt and Manu Parekh.
Raza's 25 works are semi-abstract, and are based on the universe. Thota Vaikuntam's figurative works are famous all over the country, and his theme has always been the same - the Telangana people. K G Subramanyan's serigraphs are also figurative, and he explains the relationship of humans with domesticated animals like cows, bulls, dogs, cats and goats.
Jyoti Bhatt's thoughts are her paintings, and so, her works are not thematic. Her paintings have titles such as Emergent Patterns, 4ever 2gether, Home Coming, Totaramjee, Shree Ganeshaya Namaha, Villayatea Table, and Me Myself As An Artist.
Manu Parekh is exhibiting 9 serigraphs, all of which are titled Benaras, in different hues - Benaras in Blue, Brown, Crimson, Green, Monsoon, Moonlight, Purple, Yellow and Evening are the titles of Manu's works.
