The call "move your body" takes on deeper connotations, as Treasure House organises a dance workshop for women from 7th to 30th this month.
Dance, for most of us, is synonomous with the gyrating numbers of our films, or the mixed fare that our prime-time reality shows feed us everyday. Though we cannot downplay the role of dance as a very popular means of entertainment, the aspect of dance that can make us reach out to our inner selves goes a tad unexplored.
The workshop, being conducted by Deepa Kiran, a dance therapist, will compel participants to look at dance in a new light, and invites dancers and non-dancers alike. Women will experience the joy of discovering "dance" possibilities within their bodies and breaking away from all shackles by expressing themselves through dance.
The workshop aims to be a peek into the inner self, churning out positive vibes through dance movements inspired by many old world and new world dance disciplines that include yoga, Tai-Chi and creative movement therapy. Individual and team-based creative movements will make participants explore a new world of finding their own strengths and the dynamics of "moving together".
And the best part is that they dont miss out the most important ingredient: Oodles of fun!
Deepa Kiran has trained in movement therapy with Tripura Kashyap (danseuse and movement therapist). Deepa has trained in Bharatanatyam, Rabindra Sangeet and Indian folk dances. She has performed in Bharatanatyam and Kuchupudi dance ballets, and has choreographed folk, fusion and Bollywood numbers at college festivals.
Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday of the week, and the participation fee is Rs. 2,000.
