A handicrafts exhibition by women entrepreneurs and craftspersons is on for a 10-day period, and is being organized by Swayambhari Nari. Some of the items that will be on display here are jute products, jewelry, bandwood items, paper items, Kanthawath embroidery material, flowers and chappals made of jute, plain and embroidery suites, Kolkata saris (Tangail style), Madhubani paintings of Bihar, and dolls.
Swayambhari Nari is a Kolkata-based social welfare organization working for the financial upliftment of socio-economically backward women. This organization has been holding handicraft exhibitions for the last 14 years, and as a part of it is hosting this one. These exhibitions are hosted periodically to provide self-employment for women. The organization receives sponsorship from the government to host such exhibitions at various state capitals, to display products and help sell them.
