The Lepakshi Handicrafts Emporium at RTC X Roads is organising an exhibition and sale of cane furniture from 11th to 20th August. Artisans from the northern state of Assam are exhibiting various products made from cane, other than furniture.

The majority of the exhibition features sofa sets, chairs and center tables, pieces like a wall-mounting holder for bric-a-brac, trolleys, baskets, trays, telephone stands, side-tables and even lampshades.

The highlight of the sale is the sofa sets. These are available in different patterns and weaves, with prices ranging from Rs. 6,500 to Rs. 8,500. The sofa sets need cushions, and changing them can alter the look and decor of your home easily, giving your interiors a whole new feel. A 3+1+1 sofa set comes with a matching coffee table or center table. The tables need to be topped with a glass pane to complete the look.

In one corner of the exhibition are tiny cane artefacts like hats, pens and hand fans, which are priced in the range of Rs. 30 to Rs. 200. There are also some stalls selling handloom products from Assam. Browsing through them, you can find beautiful sleeveless salwar kameezes, shirts and kids readymades, all reasonably priced in the range of Rs. 150 to Rs. 600.
