In 2000, the Children's Film Society, India had produced a film Ek Ajooba in which Amrish Puri played the role of Guruji that marked his histrionic range. The 14th International Children's Film Festival, India pays a fitting tribute to the late Amrish Puri by screening this film directed by Sunil Advani.
Chitra, an earnest student, is dismayed at never securing the first rank in her class however hard she tries. Help arrives in the form of Guruji, a family friend and philosopher. He presents Chitra with the holy 'Baboot' (ashes) that give her the requisite confidence to try to realize her dream. But this also attracts the attention of her brother and his devious friend Ratan and they begin to devise schemes that would help them procure the ashes for quick and easy solutions to their problems in life. Their machinations come to nothing when it is discovered that the holy ashes were nothing but residues from the local ironing man!!! But the real question is: will Chitra succeed?
