The Dronacharya Chess Academy is organising an open chess tournament for children below the age of 15, at the Vasavi Club on 26th and 27th January. This tournament will be held in the Swiss format, and only school children till the 10th class are allowed.
The arbitrators of the tournament will decide on the draws. The player will be judged on his/her points rather than on the number of wins and losses. Each participant has to play a total of 9 rounds to be eligible to enter the finals.
Cash prizes worth of Rs. 5,000 will be given away to 10 top players. There are also 15 special prizes in the Under-8, Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 categories based on individual performances.
The Dronacharya Chess Academy was established 2 years ago with the intention of coaching aspiring chess players and organising tournaments for their development. It is affiliated to the All-India Chess Federation. Please contact Y Sameer Kumar at 92463-44435 for further details.
