With 30 varieties of dosa on the menu, the ongoing dosa festival at Checker's is a Southie's delight! The various varieties include the family dosa, mysore dosa, paneer dosa, paneer tikka dosa, palak dosa, pudina dosa, coriander dosa, Andhra food, karvaypaaku podia dosa, avakaya dosa, honey dosa, mango dosa, paper dosa, ghee roast dosa and vegetarian dosa.
In addition to the dosas, the festival also serves a dish called appam with vegetarian stew. The stew is made of coconuts. The family dosa goes to up to about 4 feet in length. It is served with a variety of chutney and sambhar. The dosas cost from Rs. 25 to Rs. 50, and with each dosa, a glass of coke comes free.
The 'vegetarian' dosa and the 'vegetarian' stew on the menu give the impression that there might be some non-vegetarian items too. But it is not so. Checkers is a pure vegetarian fast food joint and coffee shop.
