The young dancer Shirini Surapaneni stunned the audience with her refreshing charm and grace in performance. Her Bharatanatyam recital staged under the auspices of Samaikya Bharathi is worth cherishing. Trained by veteran guru Pasumarthy Ramalinga Sastry, who himself is known for his different and telling choreography as also for his melodious songs, Shirini didn't let the audience blink in the present performance. Her swift grace, fleeting expressions and seemingly effortless movements were delightful. Whether performing a devotional composition of a revered poet or a romantic number highlighting 'Madhura Bhakthi', Shirini was as mature and comfortable as she was confident.
Backed by her guru's vocal and nattuvangam support, Shirini chose to commence with ritual floral offering and the Allarimpu, which set the mood for a series of nine numbers. "Kanakaruchira" in Varali, the fourth Pancharatna of Thyagaraja, was an unhurried number, emphasizing mimetic dance. And a Surati Javali 'Vega Neevu Vani Rammanava', was a romantic dance where the heroine cherishes those divine moments spent with her flute-playing lover and asks her confidante to fetch him fast.
A revered 'Namo Namo Ragukula Nayaka', an Annamacharya Kriti, and a rare Sivaranjari Tillana were other bright hues in her recital. Shirini, a CS Engineering student, has the zeal and might to become a good dancer. Vocalist Sangeeta Kala, percussionist Vinod Kumar, flutist Nagaraju and violinist Anil supported her performance.
