In Hyderabad, the dance company will be performing on February 17th, at the Shilpakala Vedika auditorium, as part of Parampara Series 2011: Shreyasi - International Dance Festival.
The festival is being organised by Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with Natya Tarangini Raja and Radha Reddy Institute of Kuchipudi Dance, from February 16th to 20th.
Founded by the legendary American choreographer Paul Taylor in 1954, the Paul Taylor Dance Company (PTDC) has brought the best of modern dance to people by performing everywhere - from large cultural centers to college campuses.
More than half a century ago, Paul Taylor became one of the youngest members of the pantheon of choreographers that helped create and develop America's indigenous art of modern dance. In January 1997, PTDC performed in several cities in India, including Chennai, Jamshedpur, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Pune and Lucknow, to celebrate India's 50th year of independence.
In 1993, Paul Taylor established a new dance company called "Taylor 2" to ensure that his work is seen by audiences all over the world, unhindered by technical or other limitations.
He looked back to the 1954 origins of the Paul Taylor Dance Company to create the structure of his new company: a small group of professionals with a particular gift for his style who perform his work around the world.
