Shilparamam is presenting a Carnatic vocal recital by V V S Bhargava on 2nd September, as its weekend program of music. Providing him with instrumental support are Y Kali Varaprasad on the mridangam and Kiran Kumar on the violin.
Bhargava will start the recital with a Muthuswamy Dikshithar kriti Srinadadhi Guruguha in Maya Malava Gowla ragam, followed by Thyagaraja's Sogasu Chooda Tarama in Kannada Gowla ragam, Annamacharya's Bhavalona Bhashyamu in Suddha Dhanyasi ragam, and a couple of other kritis.
Valloori Vijay Sai Bhargava was born into a family of musicians, with his father Venugopala Krishna Murthy being a veena artiste. He learnt music initially from Tadepally Srikantha Sarma and thereafter from Nanda Kumar and Malladi Suribabu (father of the Malladi Brothers). He has passed M A in music from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University with a gold medal.
Bhargava has performed at Guntur, Tenali, Vijayawada and at many venues in Hyderabad. He won the first prize in music for three consecutive years at the state-level music competitions conducted by the Kakatiya Cultural Academy. He also won the 3rd prize at the South Zone Inter-University Youth Festival held in Madurai during the year 2006, and the best concert award from Sri Rama Samajam, Kakinada, in 2005. Currently, he coaches various children and students in music at his residence in Gayathri Hills.
