Muralikrishna is going to make it rain with his music tonite at Shilparamam. Wanna bet?
Shilparamam, as part of its weekly programs of classical music, is presenting a Carnatic vocal recital by R Muralikrishna this Sunday. He will be accompanied by J Saibaba on the violin and J Muralikrishna on the tabla, for instrumental support.
Muralikrishna will start the recital with a Vatapi Ganapathim in Hansadwani, followed by Sri Thyagaraja's Enta Vedukondu Raghava in Saraswati Manohari ragam and Samaja Varagamana in Hindola ragam, Annamacharya's Okapari Kokapari in Karaharipriya ragam, and some other devotional kritis of Thyagaraja and Annamacharya.
Renduchintala Muralikrishna is a self-taught vocalist for whom music came as God-sent. He showed good promise in his teenage days, but couldn't pursue further due to his professional obligations as he got selected as a Probationary Officer in Canara Bank in 1968 and had to shift places occasionally. To accommodate his career, he had to sacrifice his music.
In 2004, he got transferred to Hyderabad as the Chief Vigilance Officer of State Bank of Hyderabad, and this was when his music buds began blossoming again. He started training under J Saibaba, and prefers to concentrate fully on music after his retirement from his profession, in another year. He is a B-graded artiste of the All-India Radio for light classical music.
