Swathi and Sowmya are braving the chilly evenings of the city in their pursual for providing warmth with their music. Hope, they succeed.
Shilparamam, as part of the on-going All India Crafts Mela from 16th to 31st December, is organising a Carnatic vocal duet by D Sowmya and D Swathi today, the 6th day. The sisters start with a recital of Varnam in Navaraaga Malika raagam, followed by Sri Mahaganapathim in Naata raagam, Sharade Veena Vadane in Deva Gandhari raagam, Anamruthakarshini in Amrutha Varshini raagam, Guru Leka in Gouri Manohari raagam, Ye Naati Nomu Falamo in Bharavi raagam, Kalaya Kalyani in Kaapi raagam, Kommalala in Bilahari raagam, Nijagathasa in Sindu Bhairavi raagam, and finally Tillana in Surati raagam.
The sisters, Dhulipala Swathi and Sowmya are disciples of T P Chakrapani. They started learning music together a very young age, and have performed at various places in Hyderabad, besides at Machilipatnam. They have also performed for Doordarshan, Hyderabad.
Both have completed their certificate courses in music from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University with distinction. Swathi is the elder of the two, and is in her final year of engineering. She also has a Visharada Pratham certificate from the Gandharva University. Sowmya is doing her MBBS degree, and has a Madhyama Pratham certificate from the Gandharva University.
