REVIEW FOR CARNATIC VOCAL CONCERT BY...

On the occasion of the 164th birth anniversary of saint Thyagaraja, as well as the 34th anniversary of the Samithi, Vignana Samithi is organising its annual Thyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival from 24th to 30th January at the Anand Nagar Community Hall, Khairatabad.

On 26th January, T Chandrabhanu will present a Carnatic vocal recital at 6:00pm.

Chandrabhanu has been learning music since childhood, and has been giving concerts for more than 10 years now. Her first lessons in music were at Thirunalveli in Tamil Nadu, after which she learnt under the tutelage of Neti Srirama Sarma in Hyderabad. She also learnt under D Seshachari, one of the famed Hyderabad Brothers. She is a lecturer in the Andhra Mahila Sabha College and a 'B' graded artist of the AIR. She has given performances in most of the reputed sabhas in Andhra Pradesh and other states.

Vignana Samithi, which is in its 34th year of existence, tries to propagate classical music by organising music concerts every month. It provides a platform for upcoming artistes by giving them opportunities to perform, and at the same time, gets senior artistes to perform and conduct workshops. Many senior artistes have performed for the organisation including Dr. Balamurali Krishna, the Malladi Brothers, the Hyderabad Brothers and Sankaranarayanan.
