As part of its monthly program of music, and in memory of music maestro late Uppalapati Ankaiah, Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram is organising a Carnatic vocal recital this week. The concert is by N Subbalakshmi, on 29th November, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. Subbalakshmi will be accompanied by N C Anantakrishna on the violin and Kapa Srinivasa Rao on the mridangam.
Nammuluri Subbalakshmi has been a disciple of D Seshachary, one of the famed Hyderabad Brothers, for the last 18 years. She had her early music lessons from Tampella Suryanarayana. She is a recipient of the CCERT Scholarship, and has performed at various concerts in almost every town in AP, and in Calicut, Chennai, Bhubaneshwar, Nagpur and the USA. She won the 1st prize at the National Music Festival at Nagpur, the Bala Ratna Award, the Ugadi Puraskarams and the Best Performer Prize at the Spirit Of Unity concerts.
Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram was started by V Ananda Mohan, a disciple of late Uppalapati Ankaiah, and he has been organizing classical music shows in memory of his guru. As a tribute to the legend, it promotes upcoming as well as established artists by inviting them to perform in these concerts.
