Even if Uppalapati Ankaiah is a stranger to you, you will be grateful to him at the end of a week from now. For, a tribute to him is a thought that always peaks in the right manner. This time, it's a week of delectable concerts.
To commemorate the 93rd birth anniversary of Sangeeta Ksheerasagara Uppalapati Ankaiah, Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram, in association with Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, is organising musical concerts in his honor from 12th to 18th March, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally.
Today, the inaugural day, Duddu Radhika will be performing a Carnatic vocal recital, with support from M V S Prasad on the violin and Kapa Srinivasa Rao on the mridangam. On this occasion, Dolu Vidhwan Layabrahma Kuraganti Guruvulu of Tenali and Violin Vidhwan Vayuleena Visharada Allamraju Someshwara Rao of Kakinada will be felicitated.
Duddu Radhika learnt music initially from Saraswati Vidyardhini, and later took guidance from Indira Kameshwara Rao in Vizag. Currently, she is undergoing advanced training under D Raghavachary, one of the Hyderabad Brothers. She is a B-High graded artiste of the All-India Radio, and has participated in various music concerts in Chennai, Vijayawada, Bangalore and Bilaspur, besides in Hyderabad. She was awarded the Gold Medal in M A Music from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, and the Young Talent Merit scholarship from CCRT, Govt of India.
Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram has been organizing classical music shows in memory of Late Uppalapati Ankaiah. As a tribute to the legend, it promotes upcoming and established artists by inviting them to perform in these concerts.
