On the occasion of Lord Venkateshwara's annual Brahmotsava celebrations, the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams of Hyderabad is organising a Carnatic vocal recital by Dr. S K Venkatachari, on 24th June, at the Sri Venkateshwara Temple in Himayathnagar.
Dr. Venkatachari is a Professor in the Department of Music at the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. He is an A-graded artiste of the All-India Radio and a recipient of the cultural scholarship from the Government of India. His father Dr. S K Tirumalachari was his initial guru in music, and he now trains under Dr. Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana. He has performed at various places in the country.
Dr. Venkatachari is also the director of Pallavi Academy of Fine Arts, a renowned music institute at Habsiguda that teaches both dance and music, where his sister P B Krishna Bharathi is the Principal. Krishna Bharathi is a fine Kuchipudi dancer and a teacher. The institute, founded in 1987, also teaches instrumental music in addition to dance and Carnatic vocal.
