We at fullhyd.com consider ourselves too inadequate to introduce Nookala. But then, that will not stop us from doing exactly that.
South Indian Cultural Association, Hyderabad, is organising a Carnatic vocal concert by Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana, in memory of Vinjamuri Varadaraja Iyengar, on Oct 9 at Ravindra Bharati. The program will commence with the release, by Justice M Jagannatha Rao, of the second volume of the book 'Sangeeta Vauhini' by the late Varadaraja Iyengar. Jagannatha Rao is the Chairman, Law Commission of India.
Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana's mother fostered his talent and gave him his basic training in music, and is the cause of his passion for music. He started as a violin student under Kambhampati Akkaji Rao, who led him to Mangalampally Pattabhiramayya at Vijayawada, under whose guidance he trained for 3 years. He then made his way to Vijayanagaram to learn under the violin legend Prof Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu.
Nookala accompanied Prof Naidu on his concerts all over India. Prof. Naidu later introduced Nookala to Dr. Sripada Pinakapani, under whom he learnt to modify and polish his style by introducing a unique element of infusing the raga bhava in every note and every phrase. He developed his own style of singing, never departing from classicism but at the same time justifying and beholding the beauty of 'raga' and the meaning of the 'Kriti', with special emphasis to the diction of the kriti that he rendered.
He has worked as a professor in and principal to many music colleges in Vijaynagaram, Hyderabad, Vijaywada and currently at Tirupati. He is also the Founder-President of the Viswakala Parishat, the Chairman of the Board of Studies - Andhra University, the Chairman of the Board of Studies - Sri Venkateswara University, Expert Member - Andhra University, Expert Member - Madras Music Academy, and Member of the Audition Board And Committee - All India Radio.
